Position Summary

The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational, social, and wellness programs for senior center participants. This role focuses on enhancing quality of life, promoting social interaction, and supporting physical and cognitive well-being among older adults.


Key Responsibilities

Program Planning & Implementation

  • Develop and coordinate a diverse calendar of activities (e.g., arts & crafts, fitness classes, educational workshops, games, and outings)
  • Adapt programs to meet varying physical, cognitive, and cultural needs of seniors
  • Facilitate and lead group activities and events
  • Able create calendars of activities and field trips
  • Collaborate with Pueblo entities

Participant Engagement

  • Build positive relationships with participants and encourage involvement
  • Assess participant interests and gather feedback to improve programming
  • Promote inclusivity and ensure all individuals feel welcomed and supported

Event Coordination

  • Organize special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings
  • Coordinate logistics including transportation, materials, and scheduling
  • Collaborate with vendors, entertainers, and community partners

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain activity schedules, attendance records, and program reports
  • Manage activity budgets and order supplies as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety and organizational policies

Volunteer & Staff Collaboration

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers assisting with activities
  • Work closely with staff to align programs with participant needs
  • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers when applicable

  • Ability to work with individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (scheduling, email, reporting)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lead activities, which may involve standing, walking, and light lifting
  • Capability to assist participants with mobility if needed

Work Environment

  • Primarily based in a senior center setting
  • Occasional travel for outings or community events
  • May require evenings or weekends depending on programming
