Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

Full Time Employment

Job Duties:

The main role of a CNA is to provide the most basic care to patients. They also are trained to help them in their daily activities that they could have trouble doing on their own. Because this is a personal sort of occupation, a CNA must be compassionate and get satisfaction out of helping other people. In many long term care facilities and nursing homes, CNAs are often the main caregivers for patients.

Most CNAs work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (includes education, skills, and experience):  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must be an active licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with New Mexico state law/requirements.
  • Must renew and keep up to date with certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
  • Must be a supportive team member.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must provide documentation of such certification upon application for the position.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office or similar software applications.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax/scan machines
  • Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload.
  • Willingness and ability to seek out new methods/principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity services.
  • Possession of excellent communication skills and ability to convey information concerning a resident’s condition.
  • The ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Pay: $$19.00-$22.25
