Position Summary
The Training Nursing Assistant (TNA) is a temporary, entry-level position for individuals actively enrolled in or completing a state-approved Nurse Aide Training Program. Under the direct supervision of licensed nursing staff, the TNA assists with basic resident care, supports daily living activities, and develops the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct resident care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, toileting, and mobility, under supervision.
Support nursing staff by maintaining resident comfort, dignity, and safety.
Observe residents’ conditions and promptly report changes to licensed staff.
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and homelike environment.
Participate in all required training sessions, skill labs, and competency assessments.
Follow infection prevention, safety, and facility policies always.
Accurately and timely document care provided, as directed.
Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and coworkers, demonstrate compassion and professionalism.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Current enrollment in a state-approved Nurse Aide Training Program.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical ability to lift, move, and assist residents in accordance with safety standards.
Commitment to completing CNA certification within the required timeframe.
Work Conditions
Long-term care/nursing home setting.
Frequent interaction with residents, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids, with protective equipment provided.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
